Hinduism in the Balance:
Rediscovering the Pure Monotheism of the Vedas
A Journey Through Logic, Science, and Ancient Scriptures to Find the Oneness of God (Tawheed)
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah, and Peace be upon every noble seeker of the truth.
My dear friends, today we embark on a profound journey—not to criticize, but to compare and clarify. When we examine the ancient spiritual history of humanity, the Indian subcontinent stands out with its deep roots in the Vedas. But does the rich, complex tapestry of Hinduism today reflect the original, pure thread of its earliest teachings?
In this detailed analysis, we shall place the tenets of modern Hinduism against the scales of reason, modern science, and the wisdom found within its own holiest scriptures. We aim to show that the remnants of truth in the Vedas and in our shared Fitrah (natural disposition) are sufficient to guide a soul safely to the only one true religion.
1. The Forgotten Call: Creator Separate from Creation
A central tenet in current Hinduism is often Pantheism (the unity of existence), where the Creator is believed to be united with the creation. The concept is that the deity resides in everything-» the stone, the tree, the human.
🤔 The Intellectual Paradox:
If the Divine exists in everything, why do people engage in specific rites and practices to “reach” Him? If the Creator is already within you, the seeker, what is the purpose of the journey? This is an obvious intellectual contradiction.
More critically, the Vedas themselves reject this doctrine. The original teachings are explicit: the Almighty God is separate from His creation. His magnificent creation cannot possibly encompass Him.
“O Allah, both the sun and the universe cannot encompass or contain you.”
This aligns perfectly with the Islamic concept of Tawheed, the absolute Oneness of Allah, Who is unique and distinct from everything He has created.
2. The Truth of the End: Afterlife, Not Endless Rebirths
The belief in Soul Transmigration (Reincarnation) and the concept of Moksha (release from the cycle) forms the backbone of contemporary Hindu practice. This suggests that the goal of existence is simply to get rid of existence:-» a pessimistic outlook indeed.
Science and Logic on Transmigration:
- ❌The Beginning: Modern science has established that the universe had an absolute beginning, countering the cyclic, timeless universe view of later Hindu philosophies (like the Puranas).
- ❌The Fixed Soul Count: If souls simply migrate, the total number of living entities should be fixed: -» a view utterly abandoned by contemporary understanding.
Crucially, the Vedas support a definitive Afterlife, not an endless loop. The Hindu scholar Shri Styakam Widyalnkar emphatically stated:
“The creed of soul transmigration does not exist in the Vedas. I challenge anyone who says so.”
The Rig Veda promises a clear reward for the righteous, a place of “enjoyment and pleasure” (Mandala: 9; Sukta: 113), and warns of a “deep bottomless place for sinners” (Mandala: 4; Sukta: 5), a concept known in Islam as Jannah (Paradise) and Jahannam (Hell). This is the justice of Allah, where the accountability is clear and final.
3. The Veda’s Strong Prohibitions on Idolatry
The most famous characteristic of modern Hinduism is its abundance of idols. Yet, this practice is in direct contradiction to the spirit of the Vedas.
“He who worships, apart from Allah, manufactured things will drown in the depths of darkness and taste the punishment of the fire for endless ages.”
The true message of every prophet;-» from Adam to Noah, to Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and finally to Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullah (Peace be upon him)—has always been singular: Worship the Only One True, Unseen God alone“Allah”.
The Quran Affirms the Original Truth:
The noble Qur’an affirms that even polytheists acknowledge the Creator, but their error lies in associating partners with Him:
لَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُ
“{If you ask them who created the heavens and earth, they will surely say: ‘Allah.’}”
Therefore, Islam is the final, untainted restoration of the pure monotheism found in the Vedas. It fulfills the natural disposition of mankind to submit to the Only One true God.
4. The Final Call: Prophecies and Perfection
Astonishingly, the Vedas contain prophecies concerning the emergence of Islam and the final Prophet, Muhammad (PBUH), calling people to the very submission (Islam) that restores pure monotheism.
Islam is the only religion with which Allah Almighty sent all prophets and messengers, making it the Universal Truth.
“{Anyone who seeks a religion other than Islam, never will it be accepted from him; and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.}”
This submission; -» worshiping Allah alone and negating any embodiment in idols; -» is the logical, scientific, and spiritual truth. It provides the most accurate and perfect example for the meaning and purpose of human existence.
